Prestigious Award goes to Head of School Nancy W. Davies

St. Andrews Presbyterian College has chosen Nancy Davies as their Distinguished Alumni for 2010.

“This annual award is the highest service award presented by our alumni association,” says Susan Wentz, Director of Alumni Affairs at St. Andrews.  “It is given in recognition of Nancy’s caring dedication to her community and state.”  The award was presented to Nancy in April, 2010, at the college’s Alumni Banquet in Laurinburg, NC.

This is the second notable honor conferred upon Ms. Davies in the past year, the first being the fellowship to the Klingenstein Center for Independent School Leadership’s 2010 Heads of School program at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Diversity Dinner

Thanks to everyone who attended our first RED Group/OHS Diversity Task Force dinner.  We had a great turnout, and the girls did an awesome job.  The program was very informative and well-planned.  It’s great to have such an awareness of diversity at Orchard House.  Thanks to Melody Imburg, Michelle Bair, and the Diversity Task Force for making this such a big part of OHS.  We are so proud of our RED group and our school.

OHS Auction is a HUGE Success

The Orchard House Auction was a wonderful evening of fun and festivities, and the income generated was phenomenal.  None of this could have happened without the help and hands of many dedicated volunteers.  Our deepest thanks go to the Auction Committee, chaired by Robin Zinsser, and greatly supported by Janie Moyers.  The Auction Committee has worked diligently for the last ten months to prepare for this very big night, and it was obvious that nothing was left to chance.  Our gratitude extends to the staff that gave their time as well--especially Melody Imburg, Elizabeth Lafoon, and Lee Vinson.  Our preliminary totals, including auction sales, sponsorships, "Fund a Cause,” and donations show that almost $70,000 was raised for OHS!  What more could we ask for?  Thank you so very much!

Food Drive Update

During our Winter Food Drive, there were 374 pounds of food and $18.03 of pocket change donated to the Central Virginia Food Bank. Thanks again to everyone!
