Meet the Head of School
In the summer of 2016, Laura Haskins assumed the Headship for Orchard House School. Laura brings extensive experience in independent school leadership and a long-standing commitment to middle school education. As she states in her educational philosophy, Laura believes that "the school community must be mission-focused and care deeply about the well being of each and every student. Teachers and administrators must respect each student as a unique individual with her own learning style, preference, and personality and value the contributions she brings to the community."
Most recently, Laura served as Assistant Head of School at the Williamsburg Montessori School where her areas of focus included developing marketing strategies, coordinating admissions, collaborating with local universities, and guiding the development of creative programming and services for students and the school community. A native of Blacksburg, Virginia, Laura graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and the University of Virginia, where she received her Master of Education. After college, Laura worked for the Virginia Governor's Office before moving to the Richmond Montessori School, where she served as the Lead Middle School Teacher.
